The best team won...and it was not Chelsea

Chelsea..........1 Man Utd........0

Injustice was done yesterday at Stamford Bridge when Manchester United bowed to a header from John Tery. It was again a refereeing blunder, a horrendous mistake from Mr Martin Atkinson, the ref of the match.

The foul awarded for the free kick that resulted to the Chelsea winner was wrongly awarded. Darren Fletcher clearly won the ball.... CLEANLY!!!. Fletch did NOT touch Ashley Cole.

The referee's (Mr Martin Atkinson) position for the free kick was also poor. He had a Chelsea player namely oe Cole in front of him and could not see Drogba pulling Wes Brown down when Wes could have cleared the ball before it reached Terry's head.

I personally was embarassed and couldnt contain myself with the poor showing in our loss to Liverpool at Anfield two weeks ago but in yesterday's defeat to Chelsea, United can take a whole lot of positives from this match. This attacking prowess of the United of old was done without Ferdinand, Vidic, Park ji Sung & Berbatov. Without Berbatov in the line-up, somehow the ball and chain had been taken off from each of United's player's ankles. It was not a conventional 4-4-2 but a rather an effective 4-2-3-1 with Rooney playing the lone striker. The order of the day from this United side was pace, speed, pace and did I mentioned more pace.
Throughout the pitch United were better. Antonio Valencia is now starting to justify his rather large price tag, attacked Ashley Cole with pace. Evra rang rings around Ivanovic and turned him inside out. Wes Brown & Johnny Evans reduced in-form Drogba to an old's lady blouse, big & ragged. Carrick, Giggsy, Anderson & Fergie's big game player Fletcher made Chelsea's diamond midfield almost non-existent.

All over the pitch the best players were wearing United's red.

However, in the end Chelsea are now 5 points in front of the reigning champions but with the display shown by the Red Devils in this unjustified defeat will surely rejuvenate the champions' season.

Glory Glory Man Utd!!!

Rocky roads ahead....

This tricky, dangerous, up, down and winding road started 3 months ago. It started off quite alright, things were moving slowly and I do really mean SLOWLY but lately the waters have been a little bit choppy. The horses are just running wild and wrecking havoc to whichever path it goes through.

Trying my best to hold my nerves in check but sometimes they get the best of me. The journey is still more than half way. I hope things would get better and I can learn to become a better man, person and husband out of it.

At the end of this journey insya'Allah I will be on another journey without any rest in between and also with a new title attached to me. This journey will bring me a new passanger that would totally be dependent on me for the whole of *his/her's* existence. I pray to Allah for all the patience, strength and wisdom for this journey and the next one that I know will be never ending.

You don't have enough balls in you

As usual some of us at Tune Talk would go down to the mamak in front of the office to have afternoon tea. This time we'll name her Betty. Betty bought some kuih and told us to share it with her as she bought them especially for sharing. She brought the kuih and instantly said to Nas "Nas, take some banana balls. You dont have enough balls inside of you". All of us at the table burst into laughter while Betty got blank faced and asked , "What??!!".

Nas asked her, "
What did you call those things again?" Betty again said, "Banana balls"!!. Again the group wailed in laughter and leaving Betty red.

You guys wanna know what banana balls are? Here you go...

Cekodok Pisang aka Banana Balls

If you feel you need some "balls", get some cekodok pisang or like Annie calls em' banana balls...hehehe..

Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

Ratings : 8.5 out of 10

Running Time:
90 minutes
Cast: Bill Hader, Anna Faris, James Caan, Bruce Campbell, Mr. T, Benjamin Bratt & Neil Patrick Harris
Director: Chris Miller
Genre: Comedy, Fantasy
Synopsis: Based on Judi and Ron Barrett's imagination-capturing kids' book: When wacky inventor Flint (voiced by Bill Hader) figures out how to make it rain different types of food, his small town gets wrapped up in the phenomenon—except Flint's dad (James Caan), who just wants his son to join him in his bait and tackle shop. As pizza, ice cream and more falls from the sky and Flint flirts with local weather reporter Sam Sparks (Anna Faris), will big appetites lead to big disaster?

The wife got a couple of free GSC voucher tickets, so we decided that maybe we should try to catch this one as it has been a long time since we went out on a movie date. We went to Tropicana City Mall's GSC as we have never been there. It is safe to say that it would be our 1st & last time we'll go there. Tropicana City Mall makes Shah Alam's Plaza Alam Sentral like a Midvalley Megamall.

Back to the movie, its basically a kiddie movie and a fun laugh out loud movie. Its a good movie to hang loose without having to decypher the movie. The only thing that made me think was ...where can I get a good juicy thick burger? Azhani liked the part where the town was covered in ice-cream. Well, me too...hehehe.

Its a good relaxing movie for adults and is highly recomendable for the young uns. The movie did its job and made my Azhani laugh. So, no complaints from me :)

Obertan Set to Debut

Gabriel Obertan, the 3 mill pound Man Utd summer arrival from Bordeux is set to be handed his senior debut for the visit of Bolton to the Theatere of Dreams. Obertan is also very likely to be included in United's squad to face CSKA Moscow for next week's Champions League game.

The French Under 21 international was given a 45 minute run out with Red Devil's legends Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's reserves team against Oldham United which the Devils won 3 - 0.

Obertan struggled at first to find his feet during the reserves game but once he found his footing he displayed why the REIGNING ENGLISH CHAMPIONS spent 3 million to bring him to the club. Posessing Thierry Henry like speed, ability to play on both flanks with both feet and having good balance sees Obertan potentially adding to United's already devastating strikeforce.

STROKE

The other day my collegue was telling me about his aunty who passed away due to stroke. She was a healthy 40 year old lady and died shortly after having a BBQ at a relatives place.

My collegue told me that she took a tumble during the BBQ and stayed down for quite some time before picking herself up. She got up and said she insist she was fine after they offered to call the ambulance over. She went on enjoying herself the rest of the evening.

Her husband called later that evening and told that his wife was taken to the hospital (passed away at 4 a.m.).

Apparently she suffered from a stroke that could had been reversed if the symptoms were catched earlier.

Recognizing a stroke, SIMPLE!
Remember STR
S - Get te person to SMILE
T - Get the person to TALK coherently. For example, "What a nice day we are having"
R - Get the person to RAISE his/her's both arms.

Another symptom is to ask him to stuck out his tongue. If the tongue is crooked or goes to one side to the other, it is also an indication of a stroke.

So, whenever a person bumps his/her head or falls down, try to carry out these simple exercises. Better still, go directly to the nearest medical facility.

The Hippie song that made ibu cry....

I was trying to get a few extra winks after sahur this morning but could not get 'em (due to my brain being really active this morning) & decided to get online. Then "Y! " showed a piece of music news on "Hippie song makes music industry history". Instantly, I knew that this was Jason Mraz's catchy and laid back tune "I'm Yours" from his We Sing, We Dance, We Steal Things album.

It is now officially the longest running record on the Billboard 100 Chart with 71 consecutive weeks beating "How Do I Live" by Leann Rimes which held the previous record for 69 weeks. I myself like the song and it always brings back good memories when listening to it. It holds a special place in my heart and also our family.

"I'm Yours" was the official anthem for my lil' brother's, Kimi wedding last year. Even during my wedding this year, my whole family asked "Apa lagu tema along tahun ni?" (What is your theme song gonna be Along?).

Kimi is now in London & Evereux for work related training since early June & ibu got hold of the news recently that he might not be able to celebrate Eidulfitri or Hari Raya with us. Somehow like on que, her phone rang & "I'm Yours" started playing (her ringtone for our family members). She shed a few tears while answering the call from my other lil' brother Mizi, which made Mizi cried too (he's such a softy..well we all are).

Hope Kimi can give ibu & us some good news by this week & get his scrawny annoying, lame ass jokes behind back in time for Hari Raya.

In the mean time, we will always have you close, my brother when "I'm Yours" starts playing.

What has been going on....

Its been a while since I updated this bad boy. Lotsa things and events had created this long hiatus from updating. It doesn't help also that I'm also a lazy bum. Yep, I said it myself. Sheeshh....

Let me try to ease myself back into the groove. Where do I start? Here we go...

No 1: Got a new Tune & loving the sound of it everyday
I left my old job at Shell in April & joined a new mobile provider Tune Talk as a Finance Executice. It's a new player in the mobile network industry. So, the whole adventure of being with a start up and a new mobile company is interesting. Tune Talk just like Celcom, Digi, Maxis etc..but totally different. Working at Tune Talk is totally different then my previous workplace where at TT you are given more freedom to express yourself through your work and in return the company just wants you to deliver what they ask of you. Totally a 360 from the rigid and shackeled working life at Shell Shared Service Centre - Kuala Lumpur Sdn Bhd. I'm still grateful for the experience and great friends I've gained during my time at SSSC-KL but Im thankful to move on to a hopefully a great company. For more information on Tune Talk, go to www.tunetalk.com. Also, my Tune Talk number is 010 - 505 000. How cool is that?..hehe..

No 2: I finally got married....
Wedding in Shah Alam

On 24th July 2009, I got married. The lucky lady comes by the name of Noor Azhani Binti Shamsudin.
The akad nikah was held at Azhani's in Bandar Baru Bangi after Asar prayers. With 1 lafaz of the Akad (maintaining the proud record of the Shah Alam guys) & also being kadi - ed by Azhani,'s dad I was now a married man.
The event was very nerve wrenching. The imam had this bright idea of asking me 10 questions before proceeding with the akad nikah. My mind was totally blank and my nerves got the best of me eventhough the questions were very easy. But being a true warrior, I pulled myself together and got the job done.
The receptions were held on 25th & 26th of July 09 (the following days after nikah). Both events were beautiful and was great to share them with friends & family.

More pictures can be found at the official photog's website. Click here.

No. 3 : Passing my ACCA exam in August 2009

During the hectic period of preparing for my wedding, I sat for my ACCA paper and alhamdulillah pass the paper. I really was preparing for the worst as I did not prepared myself this time around due to just started working at Tune Talk and also with all the wedding preparation taking up my time.

Only started preparing for the exams 2 days before exam day. Its beyond me that I passed the paper and I am grateful to Allah almighty for giving this rezeki. Alhamdulillah.
Btw, I got 51 marks. Yeah, pass nasib but still a pass..hehehe...

I am looking forward every day for what is installed. Life is great and it must be lived to the fullest....

Makin Dekat, Makin Malas.....

Aku pun tak tahu lah kenapa..tapi makin dekat dgn tarikh "keramat", makin malas nak buat apa2.
Kerja, prepare, bersukan, lepak...u mention it.

Need to get out of this rut. But need help.

Hopefully lepas time2 "keramat" tu..tak malas lagi. If not, I have a lot of answering to do.....

My New Toy : Canon IXUS 100 IS

Just got this new toy. Its the new Canon IXUS 100 IS.

Yeah, its only a compact digital camera and not one of those DSLR bulky cameras, which I will eventually own of these days.

Its the 1st slim camera by Canon and that is what I like most cos' you dont need to lug a bag around. It can fit in your jeans pockets and snap whatever you want at a whim.

Usually these types of cameras don't have a good video option but this one comes with HD (high definition). Refer to the footage below taken for NATS.

Well, I love it. I went for the red version, paying homage to the best team on the planet, Manchester United .

After this, my blogs will be littered with photos and videos..Woohhoo...I like.

Movie Review: He's Just Not That Into You

Again, this week I followed Ms. Azhani's craving for this movie. I was a bit curious but you know, whateva makes her happy..hehehe.

The cast is star studded and I was anticipating something like "Love Actually" starring Hugh Grant, Keira Knightly, Emma Thompson.

Well, this one was a bit disappointing. It was a 2 hour soap opera trying to show who was sleeping with whom, BIG mistakes are forgiven as long as there are no small mistakes. Jokes were lame, story line falling a little bit short of snoozeville and I felt the cast were not challenged enough and their talents wasted.

I went to watch this one mainly due to Scarlett Johansson & Ginnifer Goodwin being in it. At least I can drool throughout the movie..hehehe...

Overall, the cast were there but the story line wasn't.

There was a mantra that was repeatedly mentioned in the movie, " are you the exception, or are you the rule?".

In this case, this was an exception. What a pitty.

Film: He's Just not That Into You (Love Drama)

Cast: Ben Affleck, Jannifer Aniston, Drew Barrymore,
Jennifer Conolly, Kevin Conolly, Bradley Cooper,
Ginnifer Goodwin, Scarlett Johansson & Justin Long

Direction: Ken Kwapis

Duration: 2 Hours 10 Mins

Goodbye Shell

17th April 2009.....The day I left Shell Shared Service Centre - Kuala Lumpur (SSSCKL). It was the place I "mencari sesuap nasi" for the past 3 years.

Lotsa ups and down. The good and the bad, many bittersweet moments have been experienced during my brief stay there. I put it as a brief stay as I targeted to at least to reach a certain position before I leave. But it was not to be.

I wont miss the work. I wont be missing my team. Hell no to the SSSC management. But the friends and camaraderie is the one thing that Iwill miss most.

Well, friendships will always be there. So, no worries there. There is only one way to go for friendships and bonds that were created. That is stronger and closer.

A small note to my friends:

The Uollz - keep on doing what you do.Being great. Stay happy and energetic. Thanks a lot for the farewell dinner that you had for me. Really touched by the gesture except for the karaoke part..hehe..

Friday Futsal team - we will always have the friday futsal sessions. Especially due to my office being next to our home ground. Your friendships is much cherished and I have learnt a lot from you guys.

Other SSSC friends -
those that knew me and who I did not had the opportunity to say goodbye, I beg for your forgiveness for any mistakes or shortcomings. All the best and insya'Allah our paths will cross again.

Please keep in touch boys and girls. Im available at
fendi_bo@yahoo.com, affendij@gmail.com.

Movie Review: Yes Man

This movie was basically shoved into my DVD player by Shahrul, who REALLY wanted me to watch this movie. Supposedly this movie reminds him of me.

The guys (Shahrul & Zul especially) always say that whenever there is a get together or teh tarik session I would give a lame excuse to not come along. Thats way off base guys. Mana ada doh. Aku selalu pergi apa kalau ada apa2. Kekadang aje aku takleh pergi. Cam ikan emas aku nak beranak ke... rumah aku takde orang nak jaga... tunggu parents aku balik dgn kereta aku...hehehe. Those excuses are legit.

Back to the movie.

Its a movie about Carl Allen who says no to almost everything especially when his friend's want to hang out.
Everything changed when he signed up to a self-help programme based on one-simple rule: say yes to everything and anything.

At first, positive changes and events happen. Which made Carl more determine to go deeper into this YES! program. But he soon discovers that there are drawbacks of opening up to new possibilities.

The movie is a typical Jim Carrey movie. It reminds me a bit of Liar,Liar. Another one of his movies. It has its usual slapstick and witty comedy and jokes. A good watch. Seeing that the guys wanted me to watch this movie added to my curiosity.

I just got one thing to say to Shahrul & Zul. Aku bukan
macam Carl lah..damn!!

Film: Yes Man (Comedy)

Cast:
Jim Carrey, Zooey Dischanel, Danny Masterson, Bradley Cooper & John Michael Higgins

Direction: Peyton Reed

Duration: 1 hour 52 minutes

"Bo" is the new top dog in town

Today during lunch I was greeted by "woof, woof" , or "here doggy, doggy" by the guys. Me being a bit blur (maybe due to the monday blues), just laughed along without knowing whats happening. Then, one of the guys passed me the daily "The Sun" paper.

Shaite !! The Obama family dog aka The 1st Dog was named "Bo". Bo!! The reasoning behind that name was because the first lady's dad was called Didley in reference to "Bo" Didley. But to me that reason is lame. You got a whole universe of names to select from and the best you can come up is Bo? Don't get me wrong. Bo is a marvellous name. Strong, powerful yet just right for all the right reasons.

"Bo" was apparently a gift from Sen. Edward M. Kennedy who himself owns a few Portuguese Water dogs or Labradoodle.

Obama kept his campaign promise to his two daughters Malia & Sasha that they will get a puppy when he wins the election.

Well, I can take solace from this new story that after this "Bo" will be known as the top dog for years to come..hehe

The muffler is a bit too much dont you think?

Movie Review: Fast & Furious 4 (New Model Original Parts)

The Fast and Furious franchise vrooms onto the our cinemas again, after having vroomed off after a sub-standard Fast & Furious 3; Tokyo Drift installation.

The original king of the streets, Dominic Torreto (Vin Diesel), who created a cult following from the first The Fast and Furious. Vin turned his back on the next 2 installments (2Fast 2Furious and Tokyo Drift). The franchise lost its zing and Torreto was never be heard again. So, naturally, the two had to get together again and create grease lightnin' once more.

But Dom doesn't return alone. In comes his nemesis too, FBI agent Brian O'Connor (Paul Walker) who infiltrated ex-con Dom's gang in the first film, only to betray him and his sister (Jordana Brewster). But Brian and Dom do share a special bond, despite being on opposite sides of the law. Remember how Brian let Dom go in the first film. It's the same love-hate relationship that forms the crux of the fourth sequel, where both are in for a roller-coaster ride that sees them criss-crossing across unfriendly terrain in their shining machines.

While Dom wants to avenge the death of his girl friend (Michelle Roderiguez), Brian is in hot pursuit of a drug lord, Antonio Braga, who smuggles car loads of heroin across the Mexican border under the guise of street car racing.

At the start of the film, you would notice that Hahn from the The Tokyo Drift chapter would make an appearance. For those who still remember, he burned and died in Tokyo. So, I leave it to you guys to think about it. Did he really came back from the grave?

While my vote would still stand for the first film, the fourth is definitely better than part two and three. Its been awhile a movie really revved me up and also get me thinking of modifying my all standard cruiser. But beyond the horsepower, there is the enigmatic characterisation of Vin Diesel as the good-bad Dom, who keeps you guessing about his ethics till the very end. Get your testosterone kick.

Film: Fast and Furious 4 (Action)

Cast: Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster
Direction: Justin Lin
Duration: 1 hour 47 minutes

Rating: 3.5 of 5 Rotten Cempedaks

I got a new job......FINALLY!!!

Finally, my hunt for a new job came to an end 2 days ago. I am gonna leave a certain MNC that helps us in polluting mother earth and uses something that we can find on the beach as its logo.

My new paymaster is a new company associated with a certain local no frills airline. They are just getting their feet wet in the cellular industry. For me personally, it is a fresh start and an opportunity to gain experience and marketable skills. The pay is okay to. Mind you that I am getting married in July. This year!

Back to the day of my interview. It was kinda funny though. A whole string of mishaps on that day dumbfounded me a bit. Yet I got the job. Alhamdulillah.

It started off with me going to the wrong building. Mind you that I was using my GPS from my phone in finding this place, yet I got lost. Doofus. Yup. Me = Doofus.

Then, by the time I realised I made that boo-boo, it was already 10 minutes before the interview. I was running back to my car.

Now. I am sweating from the running. Kesah habis (KEtiak baSAH = kesah)

I was now speeding to the place. Then, I realised that the building was only besides the futsal place the guys from office play at every friday. In that instant, I now dont have an excuse of not joining my soon to be ex officemates for FridayFutsal sessions. Nevermind. I got an interview to go to.

I arrived at the place. Now 15 minutes late.

I was buzzed in. Given a perli baik punya by the HR guy "ingatkan tak datang tadi", he said. I shrugged it off and just gave a half hearted smile.

Well, after filling in the usual forms for interviews, the interview started.

The panel that were there to grill me was the CFO and the HR guy. But, surprise surprise. The CEO of the company conveniently just stepped in and joined in the session. Damn.

The interview lasted for about an hour and then as usual it ended with "we'll call you in a couple of days".

I thought I blew my chance. I was late + sweating + nervous = disaster interview.

Then, when I came back to my car, the futsal place owners stuck a big "NO PARKING, PRIVATE PROPERTY" sticker on my car's windscreen. It was stuck there real good. I tried to get most of it off, but no use. What to do. I drove off.

Then a call came in. "Affendi, we are hiring you. Come and get your offer letter tomorrow." I remembered just replying, "thank you".

I was grinning like a fool the whole journey back...hehehe..
